Marvel Illustrated brings Alexandre Dumas' classic swashbuckling tale to life as only Marvel knows how in this new 6-issue mini series. Writer Roy Thomas (Marvel Illustrated: The Illiad) and Artist Hugo Petrus (Marvel Illustrated: The Man in the Iron Mask) team up to tale the story of d'Artagnan and his adventures as a Musketeer apprentice. Issue #2 finds d'Artagnan learning of a plot to lure the Duke of Buckingham to Paris by the villainous Cardinal Richelieu to ruin the Queen, Anne of Austria. The Duke learns of the plot, but secretly pays a visit to the Queen before returning to England with a promise to return in 6 months. The Cardinal finds out about the visit and devises a way to prove that the Queen and Duke are involved.
