Review: Criminal V2 #3

Nobody in the world of CRIMINAL can have a good day.

Ed Brubaker excels in writing characters that just have no luck (hell, just look at Daredevil). In CRIMINAL #3 we follow the story of Danica. Danica was happy. We never really see her happy, but she tells us she was. Like Leo, like Tracy, Danica has had to put up with crap and dealt with it the best way she knew how. If anything, this will make you feel better about your life. I'm not going into too much detail on purpose. This is a title that should not be spoiled. You need to experience it for yourself.

The art by Sean Phillips (and colored by Val Staples) continues to impress. Sean and Ed complement each other wonderfully. Ed's knack for writing people that you would never want to take home to mom works so well with Sean's ability to show you what they look like and where they live. One bonus in this issue is the period this story takes place in and the little things that show you the years past and 'present'.

Another bonus is the written feature about a Robert Mitchum movie I now have to see.

And another bonus is the cover.
