It’s The Ultimate Smashfest — Hulk vs Iron Man!

The Hulk is back, and he’s not happy! In Ultimate Human #2, the dream team of writer Warren Ellis and artist Cary Nord continue their sold-out Ultimate event, unveiling a dilemma even bigger then the grey goliath himself! After a failed attempt by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner to figure out how to turn off the Hulk’s unique transformation cells, Banner has turned back into the big grey powerhouse and is adapting to everything that Stark’s scientists and security throw at him. Now Stark’s Ironworks base, a hi-tech facility created to carry out the inventor’s wildest dreams, has been laid to waste. And that’s only the beginning!

Meanwhile on the other side of the world, the ultimate version of the Leader has given the green light to “Operation Gamma” and armed forces are swarming our heroes’ location. What does the Leader want with the blood of Banner and Stark? And can Stark’s world-famous suit of armor halt the behemoth’s rampage? Find out why Newsarama.com’s Troy Brownfield praised the series for “really strong art and intelligently scripted interplay between two iconic characters” in Ultimate Human #2!

Jason Aaron Sets Wolverine On A Quest For Revenge!

In the aftermath of Messiah CompleX, Wolverine is set on a quest for vengeance — and he’s got some new friends to help him make it happen! In Wolverine #62, an X-Men: Divided We Stand tie-in, red-hot (and newly-Marvel Exclusive) author Jason Aaron (Scalped) and fan-favorite artist Ron Garney (Amazing Spider-Man) set Logan on a bezerker barrage for someone who’s role in Messiah CompleX is so huge, so pivotal that they may just get snikt’d! Now that Wolverine has seen the cost of this war over the new mutant child, he’s not about to let the responsible parties get away!

“Jason and Ron deliver a high-octane chase movie that’ll have you gasping…and that sheds new light on Logan’s long and complicated relationship with another core X-Men character,” says X-Men Group Editor Axel Alonso.

Spinning out of the red-hot, sold-out Messiah CompleX, Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on Wolverine #62 and all Divided We Stand branded series. Wolverine’s done revenge before, but now that it’s so personal, is he willing to go over the edge to get what he wants?

Review: Punisher #54

Even if this was an issue of The Punisher with Frank Castle going up against a wise guy, a drug dealer, or a pimp; our hero would probably not solve the problem over tea and crumpets. Can you imagine the outcome when he faces Barracuda? To say it’s a good thing this is a MAX title is an understatement.

This is the fifth and final part of Long Cold Dark. In the last four issues Frank has found out that it takes more than some sharks to get rid of Barracuda. Frank also found out that he has a child. Problem is, Barracuda knows this as well. So we’ve had some cat and mouse and along the way there has been a lot of bandages used. It all comes to a head this issue.

It’s been a wild ride these past few issues. It’s always interesting to see how Frank Castle will punish his enemies. This time, the stakes are a little higher. There’s a child to worry about. And you have to wonder if Barracuda is stopped or not, will the baby be safe?

Garth Ennis continues to write The Punisher in a way that makes you care about the character. That might not be easy to pull off after seven years. There was a little bit of a twist with this arc, but still, Ennis is the reason I want to buy this title every month. Goran Parlov’s art never misses a beat. There are scenes in this issue that were a little hard to take. And I mean that as a compliment. These two creators work very, very well together and Long Cold Dark is a testament to that.

This was a fantastic issue and puts a hell of a cap on an amazing arc.
